This study investigated the diversity of Bacteria and Archaea associated with black-band-disease (BBD) and a less-virulent precursor âcyanobacterial patch (CP)â affecting Montipora hispida corals to understand community interactions that may contribute to the pathogenicity of BBD. Prokaryotic profiles of BBD and CP were obtained using amplicon pyrosequencing and cloning of 16S ribosomal RNA genes.
