资源简介:

The Shabunda Forest Carbon Legacy Project (PEM-DRC-SH-109-GIERI) is a 91,663-hectare community forest carbon initiative located in the Shabunda Territory, Democratic Republic of Congo. The project applies an innovative measurement-based carbon methodology and accounting framework developed by Planetary Emissions Management Inc., the Direct Measurement Forest Carbon Protocol (DMFCP). This protocol is the foundation for the Empirical Continuity Additionality Benchmark (ECAB) and the PEM GHG-Universal Metrology Offset (UMO.1) protocols addressing widely cited scientific uncertainties for existing forest carbon offset paradigms. The PEM methodology results are directly tied to carbon dioxide removal and storage. This approach enables features such as dual carbon accounting to accomodate ex-post and ex-ante project intervals, updated metrics for permanence, leakage and insurance protection for diverse carbon credit offset products and portolios. The project is directed in-country by the NGO, Groupe d’Intervention Pour l’Encadrement Et La Rehabilitation Integrale, or, Intervention Group for Farming and Integral Rehabilitation (GIERI).
