EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES FOR MEMORIZING NEW VOCABULARY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

This article explores effective strategies for vocabulary memorization among English language learners (ELLs). Vocabulary acquisition is fundamental to second language proficiency, yet many learners struggle to retain new words. Through a literature review and qualitative analysis of classroom-based studies, this paper categorizes successful memory strategies into cognitive, metacognitive, social, and contextual frameworks. Findings reveal that methods such as spaced repetition, imagery, and semantic mapping significantly enhance retention.
