The goal was to investigate the processing of dsRNA into siRNAs by melon plants in sprayed local and non-sprayed distal leaves at 24 and 72 hours post-spraying, respectively. The dsRNA molecule was derived from the chitin deacetylase (CDA) genes of the cucurbit powdery mildew fungus Podosphaera xanthii.
