Chloroplast genome analysis of agave cantula Roxb.

gave cantula Roxb. is a large perennial evergreen herb in the family Agavaceae, and is a tropical and subtropical leaf fiber plant. In this study, we successfully sequenced and assembled its chloroplast genome, which was 165,785bp in length with 37.83% GC content. The genome consisted of a large single-copy region (LSC,859,62bp), a pair of inverted repeat regions (IR,26,537bp) ,and a small single-copy region (SSC,182,30bp). In addition, 83 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNAs, and 8 rRNAs were annotated on the chloroplast genome. The results showed that agave cantula Roxb. was most closely related to agave fourcroydes and clustered into a large group with agave sisalana.
