The study on social and political attitudes in 2023 was conducted by forsa on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. Persons aged 14 and over were asked in telephone interviews (CATI) about the following topics: assessment of one´s own financial situation, satisfaction with various areas of life, perception of the Federal Government´s policies and assessment of the world or European political situation. The respondents were selected by a multi-stage random sample.<br>Assessment of one´s own financial situation compared to that of one year ago; expected own financial situation in one year; current favourable time for major purchases vs. rather holding back; development of things in the country in the right vs. wrong direction; perceived political issues of the federal government (open); satisfaction with various areas of life (quality of life in Germany, functioning of democracy in Germany, social cohesion in Germany, health care in Germany, situation on the labour market in Germany, social security in Germany, dealing with other opinions in Germany, one´s own life as a whole, one´s own financial situation, state of digitisation in Germany, German education system and public administration); credibility of the information provided by the federal government; assessment of the world or European political situation: concerns about threats to world peace; global crises that pose the greatest threat to Germany (open); opinion on Germany´s responsibility in view of the current global political situation (Germany should take on more responsibility, take on less responsibility or Germany is already doing enough); opinion on Germany´s military responsibility (Germany should take on more military responsibility, take on less military responsibility or Germany is already doing well enough); opinion on Germany´s role in the European Union (Germany shows too little consideration for other states, shows too much consideration for other states or behaves just right).
Demography: sex; age (categorised); education; employment; net household income; party preference; voting behaviour in the last federal election; assessment of the general income situation (low, medium, high).
Additionally coded were: quarter; region west/east; weighting factor.
