海冰厚度是指海冰在垂直方向上的高度,一般高度在0.3~2m之间。在极地区域,由于海冰漂移运动导致形变,厚度可达到数米。海冰厚度是重要的气候环境变化表现因子,准确估算海冰厚度,对于气候变化研究、极区航行保障具有重要意义。 本项目利用Ku波段的CryoSat-2合成孔径雷达高度计波形数据,通过波形重跟踪算法获取海冰干舷高度,再结合静力平衡方程得到海冰厚度,生成了2016~2018年盛冰期南极25km月平均海冰厚度产品。

Sea ice thickness refers to the vertical height of sea ice, which typically ranges from 0.3 to 2 meters. In polar regions, due to deformation caused by sea ice drift, the thickness can reach several meters. Sea ice thickness is a key indicator of climate and environmental changes; accurate estimation of sea ice thickness is of great significance for climate change research and polar navigation support. This project utilized Ku-band CryoSat-2 synthetic aperture radar altimeter waveform data. The sea ice freeboard height was retrieved via the waveform retracking algorithm, and then combined with the hydrostatic equilibrium equation to calculate sea ice thickness. As a result, a 25-kilometer monthly average sea ice thickness dataset over Antarctica during the 2016–2018 peak sea ice period was generated.
