Oral Microbiome associated with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 caused the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019, or COVID-19. Many infected individuals exhibit prolonged symptoms or Long COVID even after having cleared their infection. Long COVID is thought to be linked to immune dysregulation due to harmful inflammation, with the exact causes being unknown. We examined the relationship between the oral microbiome and the duration of Long COVID symptoms among a cohort of patients admitted to the Emergency Department.
