Data from individual cruises are given a unique identifying number (id), an integer, that is included in the data file names. Filenames are cruise_id_metadata.csv and cruise_id_observations.csv. The metadata includes the ship name, captain, chief scientist, principle observer, dates of the cruise and information about the purpose of the cruise.
