Monatsarbeiten in mittelalterlichen Handschriften: Bildannotationen mit ICONCLASS

Vom 27. Juni bis 11. Juli 2023 organisierte die Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin einen Datathon in Form einer Lehrkooperation mit dem Kunsthistorischen Institut der Freien Universität Berlin. Neun Teilnehmende des Praxisseminars „Tempus fugit? Zeitmodelle, Bildzeiten und Zeitbilder in frankoflämischen Kalendarien“ von Prof. Dr. Karin Gludovatz annotierten 48 Darstellungen der Monatsarbeiten in vier digitalisierten Handschriften des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts aus dem Bestand der Staatsbibliothek. Als Arbeitsplattform diente ein Annotationstool des Projekts Mensch.Maschine.Kultur, Teilprojekt 2: „Bildanalyseinstrumente zur Erschließung des digitalen Kulturellen Erbes“. Die abschließende Qualitätskontrolle erfolgte durch das Organisationsteam des Stabi Lab. Das Datenset enthält die Bildregionen der einzelnen Motive und der ikonographisch interpretierten Bildthemen sowie damit verknüpfte ICONCLASS-Notationen. Nine participants of the course "Tempus fugit? Time Models, Pictorial Times, and Images of Time in Franco-Flemish Calendars" by Prof. Dr. Karin Gludovatz annotated 48 representations of the labours of the months in four digitized manuscripts of the 15th and 16th centuries from the collections of the Staatsbibliothek. An annotation tool of the project Mensch.Maschine.Kultur, subproject 2: "Image analysis tools for the indexing of digital cultural heritage" served as a working platform. The final quality control was done by the Stabi Lab team. The data set contains the image regions of the individual motifs and the iconographic meaning of the visual concepts as well as associated ICONCLASS notations.
