The Davis Aerodrome Project (DAP) collected a range of environmental survey data over several field seasons to support a comprehensive environmental assessment of the proposed aerodrome. This data includes flora, fauna, soils, lake ecosystem, nearshore, marine, air quality and meteorological information which has been collected by a number of different methods, and extends across the current Davis Station, proposed aerodrome and supporting infrastructure footprint (Ridge Site), previous sites considered for the aerodrome (Heidemann Valley, Adams Flat), as well as locations across the Vestfold Hills away from any of the proposed developments. This dataset contains long-term subsurface soil temperature monitoring data collected for the DAP. Two monitoring stations (PDH02b and PDS03c) were established in the 2012/13 season during preliminary site investigations undertaken as part of the Capability Development Project. During this season field investigations were centred on the coastal site at Adams Flat and boreholes were located within soil-filled valleys between outcrops of bedrock in the vicinity of Dingle Road. The subsurface soil temperature monitoring boreholes were located in association with two water level monitoring sites. Automatic monitoring at the subsoil temperature monitoring sites has occurred since their establishment, up until November 2021, under the Year-Round Aviation Access (YRAA) scoping project and DAP. Boreholes were drilled to a depth of approximately 6 meters and cables, containing sensors (thermistors) positioned every meter to a depth of 5 meters, were installed. At PDH02b two separate cables, TS01 and TS03, were installed within the same borehole. At PDS03c only one cable, TS02, was installed. Sensors were programmed to record temperatures at 10-minute intervals.Data were downloaded from the dataloggers every 4-6 weeks. Once collected, the data were added to the existing dataset for each cable and the graphical analysis updated. Where outlying or spurious records were noted to significantly impact the graphed output these were removed from a copy of the data and graphs redrawn. Where data were removed, the spreadsheet contains a tab displaying the raw data as well as the processed data with outlying data points removed.
