The Fire Product: Burning Monitoring in Brazil was part of the
International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme Data and Information
System (IGBP-DIS) Regional Satellite Fire Data Compilation CD-ROM.
The data set covers the years 1991 to 1996. The maps are either at a
national scale covering the entire state of Brazil, or at a regional
scale for the following Brazilian regions and state:
- the Rain Forest Region,
- the Northeast Region,
- the Central West, South and Southeast Region,
- the Sao Paulo State
The data are stored in 7 directories. Each directory contains the data
for one year. The first year (1991) covers the entire country of
Brazil. Counts of fires in each grid cell (1.5 deg x 1 deg) are given.
For the years 1992-1996, there are several data sets with different
grid resolution: data sets over Brazil (grid cell 1.5 deg x 1 deg),
data sets over three Brazilian regions (grid cell 0.5 deg x 1 deg),
data set over the state of Sao Paulo (grid cell 0.5 deg x 0.5 deg).
