This layer shows the properties that are still subject to the former zoning by-laws (By-law Number 32-74, 76-26, 8499, 97-102 or 96-259), shown as “Not Subject to this Bylaw” in Kingston Zoning By-law Number 2022-62. While Council enacted the Kingston Zoning By-law on April 26, 2022, approximately 1200 properties were left in the former zoning by-laws as “red exceptions”. These red exceptions are subject to old site-specific zoning permissions that were approved prior to the current Official Plan.The red exception properties are still subject to the former by-laws, but have an equivalent Kingston Zoning By-law zone that they must comply with while also retaining their old site-specific permissions under the applicable former zoning by-law.If you have questions about the existing zoning for a property or properties in the City of Kingston, please visit the City of Kingston website.
