Metabolite Perturbations in Type 1 Diabetes Associated with Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
收藏资源简介:
To evaluate MASLD in T1D, we conducted a cross-sectional study. Participants with T1D were stratified as MASLD (cases) or controls, dependent on the results determined by FibroScan imaging. Key fasting intermediary metabolites, lipid species, and acylcarnitines were measured.Given the lack of information regarding MASLD in type 1 diabetes and knowing that a substantial subset of individuals with type 1 diabetes are overweight or obese, we hypothesized that a random sample of participants with T1D would have a high prevalence of MASLD and those with MASLD would exhibit metabolites associated with insulin resistance including ceramides, glutamate, branched chain amino acids, and aromatic amino acids. We further hypothesize that these metabolites would correlate with the severity of MASLD as determined by FibroScan imaging.
