Gendering Democratization in Bulgaria. "Protest Moments" files (1989-2020)
收藏资源简介:
Developed within the framework of the project ‘Gendering democratization’, initiated and led by Prof. Andrea Krizsán. "Protest moment' files, containing summarised data and narrative analysis of 10 extended protest moments from Bulgaria (1989-2020), including the major protestevents, their organizers, and estimated number of participants, et. The analysis is based on (1) descriptive statistics on women’s participation (convenersand speakers) in the protest mobilizations and (2) critical frame analysis (Verloo 2007) of documents from the biggest events of the protest moments, including petitions, statements, speeches, and open letters. The documents are selected after surveying press and video archive coverage, and online publications. The selected documents are representative of the protests for several reasons: the speaker/writer was a formal or informal leader; the speaker/writer occupied an important political position (party leader); the narrative developed themes representative of the protest mobilization; the document belonged to the biggest events of its respective protest wave; the document included a statement (declaration) by protest organizers framing the main demands and reasons for the protest.Hand-coded the speeches and other narrative texts, selecting key categories revolving around conceptions of democracy most frequently used by speakers/writers to describe the democratization process, such as formal, participative, or egalitarian democracy.
