2021 Peaola Project

Pea-canola intercropping (peaola) has become of increasing interest within the inland Pacific Northwest due to its high yields with minimal to no nitrogen fertilizer addition. The microbiome has long been hypothesized to be responsible for this observation. Our project aimed to characterize the peaola microbiome under three different nitrogen fertilizer application rates to determine how its structure and predicted function was altered.
