Gut microbial profile is associated with the severity of social impairment and IQ performance in children with autism spectrum disorders

Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are highly heterogeneous with diverse symptom severity and comorbidities. Although the alterations of gut microbiota have been reported in ASD, it remains unclear whether specific microbial pattern links to certain aspects of symptoms or comorbidities in ASD. We aim to investigate the associations between gut microbiota and the severity of social impairment and cognitive functioning in children with ASD.
