An object detecting device (10) includes a camera ECU (3) that detects an object from image data for a predetermined area has been captured by a monocular camera (1), a fusion processing portion (41) that calculates the pre-correction horizontal width (W) of the detected object, a numerical value calculating portion (42) that estimates the length (D) in the image depth direction of the calculated pre-correction horizontal width (W), and a collision determining portion (43) that corrects the pre-correction horizontal width (W) calculated by the fusion processing portion (41), based on the estimated length (D) in the image depth direction.
