资源简介:

HJ_GCM_read_output.ipynb This Jupyter notebook demonstrates how to read the GCM output files contained in the magnetic_drag_runs directory and calculate several basic quantities used in the analysis. Variable names, units, and definitions are described within the notebook. This file provides sufficient information to understand the structure /contents of the GCM output files and serves as a helpful starting out point for further analysis. magnetic_drag_runs.tar This directory contains all the GCM output files. These files contain the velocity, temperature, and atomic H tracer fields as functions of pressure, longitude, and latitude. Each file consists of numerical values only and has the same format of 4 columns in the order: pressure (Pa) longitude (degrees) latitude (degrees) value (temp, velocity, tracer) File naming convention Each filename has the format: valuedat_runname.txt Where value specified the output variable, including: temp : temperature (K) tracer: atomic hydrogen (H) mass mixing ratio (kg/kg) u : zonal velocity (m/s) v: meridional velocity (m/s) w: pressure velocity (kg/ms^3) -- this can be converted to vertical velocity by inverting the hydrostatic equation. The runname is the name of each run. There are 22 runs in total, the naming scheme follows a common pattern, but for simplicity, all the runs are described below: runname B-field strength at poles (Gauss) Polar dipole tilt (degrees) Azimuthal tilt direction (substellar/terminator) 0G 0G --- --- 3G_0 3G 0 --- 3G_10s 3G 10 substellar 3G_10t 3G 10 terminator 3G_20s 3G 20 substellar 3G_20t 3G 20 terminator 3G_50s 3G 50 substellar 3G_50t 3G 50 terminator 10G_0 10G 0 --- 10G_10s 10G 10 substellar 10G_10t 10G 10 terminator 10G_20s 10G 20 substellar 10G_20t 10G 20 terminator 10G_50s 10G 50 substellar 10G_50t 10G 50 terminator 30G_0 30G 0 --- 30G_10s 30G 10 substellar 30G_10t 30G 10 terminator 30G_20s 30G 20 substellar 30G_20t 30G 20 terminator 30G_50s 30G 50 substellar 30G_50t 30G 50 terminator For example, the file "vdat_10G_20s.txt" contains the meridional velocity as a function of pressure, latitude, and longitude, for the 10G magnetic dipole field strength run, with an offset from the rotation axis of 20 degrees, tilted towards the substellar point.
