Prolonged Environmental Enrichment Promotes Developmental Myelination

This project characterizes the transcriptional changes in oligodendrocyte genes during prolonged periods in environmental enrichment. To do this, we used translating ribosome affinity purification (TRAP) to isolate actively translating RNAs from oligodendrocytes (OL; CNP-bacTRAP) in the subcortical white matter of mice. RNA-Seq was performed at postnatal day (P) 22, P30, and P45 from normally developing mice or mice continuously housed in an enriched environment. These data provide a characterization of oligodendrocyte lineage cell-specific translation in a setting of enhanced developmental myelination.
