A laser diode double-ended pump Yb: YAG regenerative amplifier has been developed. Immersion water-cooling method and thin-rod crystals greatly improve cooling capacity. In addition, double-ended pumping method and optimized cavity design significantly reduce the thermal effects. Due to thermal effects were largely decreased, high average output power of 37 W was achieved with high power stability(RMS=0.56%)at pulse repetition rate of 400 kHz with 1.23 PS pulse width using chirped pulse amplification (CPA) systems and the output beam quality was excellent with a M2 value of <1.075. A low-cost, highly compact solution for high-power ultrafast laser systems has been obtained.
