Phytophthora ITS1 amplicon Illumina MiSeq sequencing in Andean Patagonia forest soils.

Survey of Phytophthora diversity 28 in forests soils of Andean Patagonia using high throughput Illumina sequencing. Metabarcoding identified 23 Phytophthora species, 16 of which were new records for Patagonia. The most abundant species, according to the number of reads, was P. austrocedri, followed by P. cambivora, P. ramorum and P. kernoviae. The most frequent species was P. cambivora, followed by P. austrocedri and P. ramorum. Species composition and abundance was influenced by land use, anthropic impact and soil drainage. Results showed a number of invasive Phytophthoras, including quarantine-regulated species, which appeared to be established in Patagonia.
