Integrating databases for spatial analysis of parasite-host associations and the novel Brazilian dataset

We provided the NCBI Nucleotide and GBIF data of zoonotic microparasites used in the analysis to evaluate the geographycal and host/source information. This dataset also includes the lists of zoonotic microparasites, Brazilian wild mammals, and primary papers used to search all data retrieved from NCBI Nucleotide and GBIF databases, and to construct Brazilian Mammal Parasite Occurrence Data (BMPO). The BMPO is a new parasite-host association dataset, representing the best information currently available on parasite-host associations in Brazilian regions. The BMPO comprases parasites associated with mammal species identified in Brazil, morphological and life-history traits of mammal species and parasite epidemiological traits, precisely transmission mode and zoonotic status. This new dataset can be used to address questions related to (i) which species parasite wild free-ranging native mammals, (ii) which species comprise parasite hosts, (iii) where are the parasites located, and (iv) which parasites are found in a certain region.
