Total organic carbon and total nitrogen (TOC and TN) concentration of the Northeast Greenland (NEG) shelf sediments from POLARSTERN cruise PS109@en

Samples for the assessment of total organic carbon and total nitrogen (TOC and TN) content in the sediment on the Northeast Greenland shelf have been collected with R/V Polarstern during PS109 between September and October 2017 using a camera-equipped multiple corer (TV-MUC; core area 0.007 m²). Upon arrival on deck, the upper 5 cm of three MUC cores were sliced into 1cm intervals, using a cut-off syringe, and then stored at -20°C. The samples were dried at 60°C, subsequently treated with hydrochloric acid in order to remove the inorganic carbon until the sediment was not bubbling anymore, and then dried again at 60°C. Finally, percent TOC and TN were determined using an ELTRA CS2000 Carbon Analyzer.用于评估东北格陵兰陆架沉积物中总有机碳（Total Organic Carbon, TOC）与总氮（Total Nitrogen, TN）含量的样品，于2017年9月至10月期间随极星号（R/V Polarstern）科考船在PS109航次中采集，采样工具为带摄像装置的多管取样器（TV-MUC；取样芯面积0.007 m²）。样品抵达甲板后，研究人员使用截切注射器将3根TV-MUC取样芯的表层5 cm沉积物按1 cm间隔分切，随后于-20℃条件下冷冻保存。将样品置于60℃下烘干，随后用盐酸处理以去除无机碳，直至沉积物不再产生气泡，之后再次于60℃下烘干。最终采用ELTRA CS2000碳元素分析仪测定样品中的总有机碳与总氮百分含量。
