Antibiotic use is associated with changes in microbiome diversity and bacterial abundance, and can disrupt colonic integrity, decrease expression of TJ proteins, contribute to intestinal barrier damage, increase enterocyte permeability, and release large quantities of inflammatory factors that are detrimental to asthma relief and long-term repair.
