As part of a special seminar course to evaluate local seismic response of the UTD campus, students learned the fundamentals of seismometers, earthquake seismology, and ambient noise data processing.
To support a “learn-by-doing” approach, two field activities were organized with students. In the first, seismic nodes were deployed at various locations across the campus. In the second, seven seismic nodes were installed on different floors of the tallest building on campus to conduct an experiment on building response.
