In this study, the colonization potential of snow microorganisms deposited in soils during snow melt was investigated using microcosm experiments. Normal vs fast melt rates were simulated to evaluate the influence of melt rate on colonization. The influence of soil pH on the colonization potential of snow microorganisms was also tested with the hypothesis that increased colonization would be observed in acidoneutral soils compared to acidic and alkaline soils.
