The goal of this study was to understand how the liver responds to echovirus infection in a neonatal population. To do this, we used hFcRnTg32 mice, since these mice express the pan-echovirus receptor under its native promotor, and generated 3 additional IFN knockout genotypes on this background (hFcRnTg32: Ifnar-/-, Ifnlr-/-, Ifnar-/-Ifnlr-/-). Neonatal (7do) mice were then challenged with echovirus to observe how liver resident cell types were affected in the context of different arms of the innate immune system at a single cell resolution.
