Raw Data-The Association Between Upward Appearance Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction Among University Students

The dataset, "Raw Data on the Relationship between Upward Appearance Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction among University Students," was collected via the Wenjuanxing platform (https://www.wjx.cn/) from undergraduate students across multiple universities in China between October and November 2025. A total of 710 valid questionnaires were retained for analysis. Grounded in objectification theory, this study measured key variables including upward appearance comparison, body dissatisfaction, body shame, and negative perfectionism to examine the relationship between upward appearance comparison and body dissatisfaction. These data not only offer insights into the mechanisms underlying body dissatisfaction among university students but also provide important references for promoting healthy body image and self-perception among contemporary university students.
