PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet-laid nonwoven fabric containing polyphenylene sulfide fibers which is hardly causing paper break when produced by a wet papermaking method， sufficiently securing specific tensile strength of the nonwoven fabric， and excellent in chemical resistance. SOLUTION: A wet-laid nonwoven fabric containing PPS fibers of this invention comprises only polyphenylene sulfide fibers and contains polyphenylene sulfide fibers having a variant cross section and has a weight of 20 g/m 2 or more and 200 g/m2 or less， wherein the content of the polyphenylene sulfide fibers having the variant cross section is preferably 10 mass% or more based on the total fiber content.SELECTED DRAWING: None
