We discovered that S1P/S1PR2 signaling system is critical for maintaining epidermal barrier function and protection. Our data shows that S1pr2-/- mice have compromised skin barrier function compared to wildtype and increased bacteria permeability associated with a downregulation of key tight junction and barrier genes.
