资源简介:
The Transcriptomics in Potatoes under High Temperature Stress project seeks to understand how some genotypes of this species respond to extreme temperature conditions through detailed analysis of their transcriptome. The Criollo potato, prized for its nutritional value and its role in food security, is a crop that is sensitive to climatic changes. High temperature stress can significantly alter its growth, development and yield, posing risks to its long-term production. In this sense, this research becomes a fundamental link to understand the physiological traits and gene expression that could ensure its survival and productivity under conditions of climate variability. The transcriptomics refers to the study of the totality of transcripts (messenger RNAs) present in a cell or tissue at a given time. In this project, changes in gene expression of two creole potato genotypes subjected to high temperature stress are examined. This approach allows us to identify which genes are turned on or off in response to heat stress, revealing the molecular mechanisms that the potato uses to cope with these challenging conditions. The experiments performed made it possible to expose plants of the genotypes considered to elevated temperatures and then to sequence their RNA to analyze changes in gene expression. This state-of-the-art technique allows the identification of key genes involved in the response to heat stress. The results of this study not only provide insight into the genetic response of the genotypes evaluated to high temperature stress, but also have the potential to guide breeding strategies. The identification of specific genes that promote heat tolerance and the associated metabolic pathways will allow the development of heat tolerant varieties for food security.By understanding these molecular mechanisms, doors are opened to develop potato varieties that are more resistant and adapted to changing climatic conditions. The results of this study not only provide an in-depth understanding of the genetic response of creole potato to high temperature stress, but also have the potential to guide breeding strategies.Identifying specific genes that promote heat tolerance could allow the development of more robust and resistant varieties, ensuring food security in areas vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
