Data from a focus group study involving members of patient organizations and primary care professionals focusing on self-management interventions

The data consists of experiences of proactive self-management efforts among individuals with chronic illnesses and healthcare professionals. Data were collected through five focus group discussions: two with members of patient associations and three with healthcare professionals working at primary care centers. The discussions were conducted in Swedish.

One of the focus groups with healthcare professionals was held at their primary care unit, while the remaining sessions were conducted digitally. All sessions were audio-recorded. The recordings were transcribed verbatim using Microsoft Word. The transcribed material constitutes the dataset for analysis. A classical focus group analysis was then conducted to identify patterns and themes within the data.
