Fecal microbiota in human treated with a milk containing galactooligosaccharide, maltitol, and glucomannan

The 51 adults were assigned to randomly receive a milk containing galactooligosaccharide, maltitol, and glucomannan (n = 27) or a placebo (n = 24). This study was performed for 3 weeks, their feces were collected in week 0 and 3. Fecal bacterial DNA was extracted, and the V1-V2 region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene was amplified by PCR. Next-generation sequencing was performed using an Ion PGM system.
