Pakistan - Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2010 - Balochistan

The Balochistan Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) was conducted by the Planning and Development Department, Government of Balochistan in May through September 2010. The survey provides valuable information about the health of young children and their mothers in Balochistan province of Pakistan. The survey aims to monitor progress towards achievement of the goals and targets set under international agreements, the Millennium Declaration adopted by 191 United Nations member states in September 2000, the Plan of Action adopted by 189 member states at the United Nations Special Session on Children in May 2002 and commitments made at the 1990 World Summit for Children. Pakistan has committed itself to improving conditions of women and children under these agreements and to monitor progress towards this end.A total of 12,378 households were sampled out of which 12,069 were found to be occupied at the time of survey of which 11,612 were successfully interviewed, giving a response rate of 96.2 percent. Questionnaires were completed for 1) households, 2) women aged 15-49 years and 3) mothers or caretakers of under-five children.
