Compliance with Post Vasectomy Semen Analysis - 248 patient Cohort from Suburban Community Urology Practice

Retrospective review of 248 men status post outpatient vasectomy by community urology practice in large suburban area. Demographic factors were collected including including age, ethnicity, tobacco use (yes/no), alcohol use (yes/no), marital status (yes/no), family size (number of kids), BMI (kg/m2), comorbidities, health insurance, occupation, and out of pocket procedural costs. Obesity defined as BMI greater than or equal to 30kg/m2. White collar occupation defined as employment in an office or professional environment (teacher, professor, physician, lawyer, office manager, etc.). Blue collar defined as skilled laborer in manual work, most often with use of hands, typically in a uniform (fireman, police, factory worker, teamster, construction worker, janitor, etc.). Blue Cross Blue Shield served as primary insurance provider in the study geographic area. Chi squared analysis was used to evaluate the predictive value of these factors for PVSA return. Calculations included. If post vasectomy semen analysis was successfully returned by patient, then the number of post vasectomy semen analysis (PVSA), results of semen analysis, laboratory details, revision rates and surgical details of original vasectomy were collected.本研究为回顾性分析，纳入某大型郊区社区泌尿外科门诊收治的248名输精管结扎术后男性患者。研究收集了以下人口统计学资料：年龄、种族、烟草使用情况（是/否）、饮酒情况（是/否）、婚姻状况（是/否）、家庭规模（子女数量）、体重指数（Body Mass Index, BMI，单位：kg/m²）、合并症、医疗保险类型、职业以及自付手术费用。本研究将肥胖定义为BMI≥30kg/m²。其中，白领职业定义为在办公室或专业环境中从业（如教师、教授、医师、律师、办公室管理员等）；蓝领职业定义为从事体力劳动的技术工种，多需手部操作，通常身着制服（如消防员、警察、工厂工人、货运司机、建筑工人、保洁员等）。研究覆盖区域内的主要医保服务商为蓝十字蓝盾（Blue Cross Blue Shield）。本研究采用卡方检验评估上述因素对术后精液分析（Post Vasectomy Semen Analysis, PVSA）回访率的预测价值，相关计算均已完成。若患者成功提交术后精液分析样本，则收集术后精液分析次数、精液分析结果、实验室相关细节、再次手术率以及首次输精管结扎术的手术细节。
