Randomized human pilot study on the effect of a high-fat diet intervention on colonization resistance against E. coli Nissle 1917

Human randomized cross-over intervention pilot study with 8 healthy volunteers to investigate the influence of increased or decreased nutritional fat on the efficiency of gut colonization by a single dose of the probiotic strain Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN, Mutaflor®). 16S sequencing was used to quantify changes in the gut microbiota composition of the human subjects due to the diet/microbial interventions throughout the study period.
