PERGOS-3 Website (Oceanweather Inc.) Summary Improving on previous hindcast projects, PERGOS-3 applies high-resolution data-assimilative ERA5 reanalysis atmospheric inputs in conjunction with statistical adjustments and kinematic reanalyses to reduce systematic biases and independent errors in significant storm events before forcing the ocean response modeling system incorporating tidal mechanics, shallow water spectral shallow-water physics, and water level response to extreme weather events. The continuous hindcast was made on an unstructured triangular mesh with node spacing between 500 m and 6 km covering the entire Gulf. PERGOS-3 updates the previous version of the continuous hindcast to cover over six decades from 1960 – 2024 to ensure that it simulates the past and current climate. The PERGOS-3 hindcast retains the storm experience from the previous studies and includes a larger storm population, 189 storms over the years 1960 – 2024 to provide more reliable extremes that cover all areas of the Gulf.
