Complete genome sequence of E. coli JCM5491

E. coli JCM 5491 is widely used as a model strain for microbiological and antibiotic resistance tests and is compatible with E. coli ATCC 25922. Although whole-genome sequencing data have been deposited by another research group, the data were withheld owing to the presence of numerous frame-shifted proteins. Therefore, in this study, the whole-genome sequence of E. coli JCM5491 was sequenced by MinION (Oxford NanoPore technologies) using an R9.4.1 flow cell (FLO-MIN106) and NovaSeq6000 (Illumina) with the NovaSeq6000 SP Kit v1.5(300 cycles). Hybrid error correction, consisting of short-read mapping using BWA-MEM v0.7.17-r1188 and polishing using Pilon v1.24 with default settings, was repeated four times until no base corrections were reported.
