Nebulous without white: annotated long-read genome assembly and CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering in D. nebulosa

Through the generation of long-read genome assembly and annotation, we developed genetic tools to facilitate molecular and evolutionary studies in D. nebulosa. We used CRISPR/Cas9 as proof-of-concept via disruption of the white gene. Application of these tools is carried out to provide insight into the effects of the white-eye phenotype on mating behavior in D. nebulosa.
