Amplicon sequencing of wheat ear microbiomes associated with mycotoxin risk

This project characterises fungal and bacterial communities associated with wheat ears using ITS and 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. The study aims to examine relationships between wheat ear microbiomes and the occurrence of key cereal mycotoxins across multiple field environments. The generated datasets support improved understanding of microbial ecology, food safety risk, and predictive approaches linking microbiome composition with mycotoxin contamination, and are being deposited to support data transparency and reuse through NCBI.
