Growable Ground Plant Database

A curated, per-fact-provenanced compilation of horticultural and botanical traits for 1,112 cultivated and native plant records (1,077 distinct species) grown in the United States, with up to 128 trait fields per record spanning climate tolerance, soil and light requirements, phenology, propagation, toxicity (to humans and pets), and pollinator value.Its distinguishing feature is a per-fact provenance ledger: every individual trait value carries a source and an honest provenance tier (authoritative-open, web-corroborated, cited-secondary, derived, or unverified), so the reliability of any single value is transparent rather than assumed uniform. 74% of values are sourced or rule-derived; 26% are explicitly labeled unverified rather than dropped or relabeled. Sources include USDA PLANTS, GBIF Backbone Taxonomy, FAO ECOCROP, Plants For A Future, Missouri Botanical Garden, cooperative extension services, and ASPCA (pet toxicity); nitrogen-fixation and rotation-family fields are derived by botanical taxonomy.This is a plant-trait reference; it does not include site-specific suitability scoring or environmental-intelligence methods.
