Responses of divergent plants to Pseudomonas syringae infection

Here, we interrogated host responses to the broadly virulent P. syringae pathovar syringae B728a pathogen in the distantly related plants Marchantia polymorpha (liverwort), Ceratopteris richardii (fern), and Nicotiana benthamiana (flowering plant). We compare plant infection transcriptomes at 24 hours post treatment with virulent B728a (wildtype), the hrcC type-3 secretion system mutant, the syrP syringomycin (toxin) defective mutant, or a mock-treated control.
