We tested the efficacy of a DNA-demethylating agent using commonly applied methods on the DNA-methylation patterns using high read depth sequencing methods in the insect model parasitoid Nasonia vitripennis. There was no significant differences in DNA-methylation, i.e. validation of the demethylation methods are always required when attempting to link DNA-methylation to phenotypic variation.
