Rhodococcus fascians GS01 was discovered in a place where plastic waste, including vinyl, was illegally buried and abandoned. In order to remove the buried plastics, heavy equipment was used to separate the soil and garbage, and then moved to another location. Since this strain was widely observed in the soil and vinyl fragments left behind during the process, there is concern about the spread of this strain during the transportation and processing.
