Images and Site Records from an Archaeological Evaluation at Churton Road, Farndon, Cheshire, June 2016

This collection comprises images and site records from an archaeological evaluation at Churton Road, Farndon, Cheshire. This work was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology North in June 2016. Eleven evaluation trenches were excavated, with five trenches revealing archaeological features including linear ditches (probably boundary features) and evidence of possible stone quarrying pits which contained pottery likely to date from between the Roman and medieval periods. The paucity of features and associated finds suggests the land has never been subjected to intensive occupation and has probably been in agricultural use for a considerable period of time.
