An enrichment culture was formed from biofilm grown in-situ at an analogue site for an ILW-GDF. Under anaerobic sulphate reducing conditions a pH 11 microcosm was run for >2 years on a 2 week feed/waste cycle. The ability of the microcosm to reduce sulphate at a range of pH values was investigated to see if this ability was retained by the microbial community after the imposed growth rate.
