Data for SSP poster on Equitable Representation in Awards and Recognition in Scholarly Publishing: The Path Ahead

<strong>Data description:</strong> Two datasets presented in Excel tables consisting of the aggregated gender and the geolocation of awardees from five scholarly publishing organisations, with individual and organizational membership, from 2000 to 2021. <br> Organisations and sources included were: Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) SSP Awards American Library Association (ALA) ALA Professional Recognition Achievement Awards Council of Science Editors (CSE) Awards International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) Award Recipients Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) ALPSP Awards <strong>Method of data collection:</strong> We collected publicly available data on awards given out to society members and constituents over the last two decades. Our survey group was composed of organizations, with individual or organizational membership, where professionals employed in scholarly publishing fields would be eligible to receive recognition. We focused on awardee geographical location and gender (based on self-declared pronouns) because these data were most readily available. Across all data sets, we focused on individual achievement awards, and excluded awards given by organizations on an inconsistent basis and awards in specialized areas. We shared our raw data with each organization and asked for verification of accuracy and any input or additional information to be shared.
