Vertical atmospheric profiling by drones during the ice breaker Shirase cruise of the 64th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition

Meteorological observations were made in the Southern Ocean on board the R/V Shirase from December 2022 to March 2023 as a part of the 64th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE). During the cruise, we conducted drone observations for atmospheric structure profiling (temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, aerosol number concentration). The small meteorological sensors were installed on the arm and top of the drone's body.
