VPRS 4427 Government Labour Exchange Register Of Applicants For Work

This series consists of a Government Labour Exchange register required to be kept by an agency providing sustenance relief employment within a district. In this instance the register was maintained by the Balmoral Court house. In allocating work, the agency in turn was required to liaise with the Local Relief Committee which was usually based in the local Council.All agencies were required to register eligible applicants for work. The register records the name of the person seeking work, their address, martial status, number of dependent children, date of birth and general remarks.
